Fish of the Month 2026 - 27

In addition to the monthly competitions we also have a Fish of the month competition.

Competition Rules: At the start of each year the Club Committee nominates a one species of fish for each of the categories (Freshwater, Coastal, Reef and Pelagic) per calendar month. Club members who log their captures electronically into the ANSA QLD portal are automatically entered into the competition if they catch a fish in one or more categories during the applicable calendar month.

The club member who catches the longest fish in a particular category/month wins the applicable prize. Prizes per category start at a pick from the tackle box (valued at $10) and if they are not won the prize jackpots by $10 each month - prizes of $20 or more are awarded as a gift voucher.

Winners of a Tackle Box pick may, if they are present at the members meeting when the prize is awarded, choose not to accept the prize and instead “donate” it back to the club. If that occurs then the prize for the next month will jackpot to a $20 voucher. Please note only Tackle Box picks can be “donated” and alternative prizes will not be offered to the member that “donates” the prize. If a member is not present at the meeting when the prize is awarded then they are automatically awarded the Tackle Box pick by default.
