Smithy loved the seas so well, its moods, its gentle art. A warm and steady gentleman with knowledge and with heart. He’d chuckle as the reels lit up - “Thats dinner sorted, mate”. On deck with him, the day was gold, the catch was worth the wait. He cared for bar and harbour ways, he’d note their shifting sands. Yet more, he built a life of joy with rod and line in hand. We are a fishing community, focusing on social connections and family bonds. Our club embraces anglers of all levels, from novices taking their first cast to seasoned enthusiasts with years of experience. Whether fishing from the shore, kayaks, runabouts, half-cabs, jet skis or offshore boats, our members bring a wealth of diverse experiences to the table.
Our members enjoy all styles of fishing, trolling, lure, jigging, live bait and bottom bashing.

While socially orientated, the club has a competitive nature with regular club competitions, fish of the month comps and annual awards. Competitions are conducted in fresh water impoundments, estuaries, beach and offshore environments, in both local area and camping away formats.
Our first objective of the club is to indulge in and actively promote the sport of fishing. Please click on this link to read more of our club’s objectives.
The Sunshine Coast Sportfishing Club is an ANSA affiliated club and as such follows the national body’s rules and guidelines whilst embracing the association’s motto of Sport, Conservation and Integrity.
New Members are always welcome and if you want more information about joining you can simply come along to one of our monthly meetings which are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7pm at Northern Grounds, 2/46 David Low Way, Diddillibah QLD 4559.
